Yes, here it is, finally - the Relived Turnabouts series thread~! It's been a long time coming, and I really can't say why it's taken so long to get this thread up, it was supposed to be posted months ago, but things get in the way, you know how it goes... but work on Redeemer has finally officially started, and as I've long-since said, that coincides with the series thread. It's finally here~
I'm not so good with synopsis', so for now, the future cases only have "-Coming Soon-" to them. Don't worry though, I plan on fixing that. Hopefully I can get someone to help me out with them...
From the Escape thread: The main story arc is that there's a massive prison break that lets loose a number of the most vile murderers ever known - of course, most of which being ones Phoenix has had run-ins with. As the player, you must both catch the escapees, and find the people responsible for the prison break. (And, of course, help those wrongly accused of it!)
For the record, the story is set very soon after the end of Trials and Tribulations, of which their are some spoilers.
My debut trial here. This is something I started to try and see how this system worked, and ended up finishing.
I should note that this is a recreation of the opening write-up from a Phoenix Wright Mafia Game that I shall soon be modding. If the testimonies seem lacking, it's mainly because of that - the trial was mainly done just to show people how trials would look in-game. But, as it was, it was WAAAAAAAAAY longer than most write-ups to begin with, so it wasn't really in the cards to add much more to the trial.
Having said that, I did add a little more content (such as having to answer a few questions, and an extra piece of evidence that Phoenix didn't have to present in the write-up) for the sake of this trial, but still..just, keep in mind, it's mainly just to set the story.
And yes, I do plan on making this the beginning of a series. If it seems kind of easy, well, it's the first of said series, so it's kinda supposed to be..
The main story arc is that there's a massive prison break that lets loose a number of the most vile murderers ever known - of course, most of which being ones Phoenix has had run-ins with. Feel free to tell me of any mistakes that I've made. For instance, some things I could use help with - a lot of the time, when I use the skyblue *thinking* text, it runs right through it on the the read-through..if you know what I'm saying. I don't know why. It's only, like, half the time, it does this. I don't change the text speed so..I'm not really sure why it does that.
Gotta say - I had a lot of fun making this, the system was a lot easier to use than I thought it would be.
Spoiler : Walkthrough :
Press on "It was a very nice visit. We spoke for quite a while... I ended up losing track of the time." Press on "I entered the building at around 9:30, and stayed until about 12:20."
Press on "I didn't want to talk about it because... it's, well it's... kind of embarrassing." Press on "Well, you see, I... tend to believe things that are told to me, when they aren't... normal."
Two days short of a full month after work on it started - Turnabout Bloodlines, Part 1 is now complete!
Things of note:
Currently at 1980 frames... so, it's, y'know, fairly long.
I'm not entirely sure if I'm the first person to use the prosecutor that I picked, but I haven't seen them used yet, so... it'd be real cool if I was the first!
Oh, and keep on the look out for Examination Easter Eggs™! Even the "nothing of note here" frames have little jokes in them...
This trial has a lot of firsts in it for me. My first investigation, my first attempt at psyche locks, and my first use of variables.
It also contains a custom background that I made, in the Upper Deck of the Court Gallery. It came out okay, I think... good enough to be in the trial, anyway. Nobody answered my request of it, so I was just like, "Oh what the hell, I've got Photofiltre".
Took me a bit to figure out juuuust what prosecutor I wanted to put in for this case. Godot is imprisoned at the time, so that doesn't work. It's too important for Payne. Edgeworth trying to convict Franzi didn't work for me, and after he pretty much lost on purpose to save Maya in the first case, I didn't want a repeat of that. And for fairly obvious reasons, it couldn't be Franziska...
Portsman seemed like a good alternative, and seemed to me like a potentially interesting choice. Hopefully that's something some of you will agree with me on.
Pt. 2 Notes: Weighing in at a staggering 2083 frames, and hailing from...
...Princeton, New Jersey, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to AAO, the one and only Chapter 2 of Turnabout Bloodlines! (...Because if there were other Chapter 2's to the same trial, that'd be kind of weird.)
The past slowly creeps it's way into the present, in more ways than one, as the trial focused around an in-court murder continues~!
There's not much I really want to give away about this trial part. One thing I want you to keep in mind, though - there are a lot of mergings used, that involve pause tags. That's pretty much my style to use those a lot. When people speed through text, on these frames, occasionally errors will occur where the first letter of the first frame to be merged is all of it that you see, or other such things. As a bit of a precaution, I ask people to be careful not to overdo it. I'm not trying to force you to do it any certain way of course, you should play it at your own pace. Just, felt like it'd be nice to keep that in mind, as I'd hate for text to be skipped over like that. Especially if it causes you to miss something important...
AAAAAAAH! After six months! After blown hard drives! After moving back and forth from computers! After reaching a once-thought-impossible 5325 Frames! After breaking the editor twice! After getting that hangnail! FINALLY! It is here! The third and final part of Turnabout Bloodlines!
One special feature of this case: Throughout it, there are alternate present conversations as Easter Eggs, three of them to be precise. And if you get all of them, and finish the trial, there's a little unlockable scene to be found...
This is easily the biggest serious trial part I've ever done. Unas actually had to up the frame limit twice, just to make room for it, for Christ's sakes!
And I must say, I really never expected this to be so well received. I mean, I thought they'd like it, but "best trial of the year so far"? "One of the best complete cases on the site"? "The next Scapegoat"?! Honestly, I'm not sure that it deserves such high praise... but perhaps you should just find that out for yourself?
And, for those that need it, a Walkthrough;

EASTER EGG: - Present: Swordcane (Don't worry, you won't get penalized, Judge Fudge kinda Fudges on the whole full penalty thing in the convo... and this shall unlock the secret scene!) - Present: Reaper's Calling Card
Son of Luke and Carmen Atmey, and brother to Grace. A bit of a rebel without a cause, he's got quite the temper and isn't afraid to shout at anyone who even remotely crosses him. Nonetheless, he can be quite good-hearted, and truly cares for his sister. He can also be pretty clever when he's calm - it's just that being calm is kind of a rare occurrence for him...
Wise Beyond Their Years: Somewhat surprisingly, he shows some signs of this. When he's calm atleast, he's pretty good with plans and the like. Theme Naming: Like his father and sister, his namepun is a variation of "look at me". Verbal Tic: Likes saying "G" and "Mang" quite a bit.
Your Days Are Numbered: Part 1 of Turnabout Redeemer confirms that he's been convicted for the murder of his father, and, unfortunately, is set to be executed pretty soon.
Grace Atmey (Gray-ss At-me)
Daughter of Luke and Carmen Atmey, and sister to Star. A quiet and shy girl that's always extremely careful not to come across as mean or rude. This makes her stand out a bit from Luke and Star, who, uh... don't care about that quite as much. It's said that she gets it from her mother.
Affectionate Nickname: Star likes to call her 'Gracie'. Apologises A Lot: Whenever she gets angry with you, anyway. Bad Liar: Mainly due to a lack of experience. If you press the first - I believe - statement of her first testimony, she accidentally tells you which upper deck she actually sat in, which completely contradicts the rest of her testimony, though this situation is quickly waved off by Portsman as her simply being mistaken due to her nervousness. **Phoenix Wright: I've gotta hand it to you, Grace. It was quite clever of you, to refrain from revealing your last name. Especially considering, judging by how you answered to my "were you in the opposite gallery" query, that you aren't a very experienced liar.
Spoiler : Turnabout Bloodlines :
B!tch In Sheep's Clothing: Wholly subverted. I did attempt to get people to suspect this was in play, like by noting how these types always show up in Case 2's - Bloodlines was one at the time~ - making her seem to good to be true, or by giving her a version of Dahlia frickin' Hawthorne's theme song, but no, she's quite genuine.
The Cutie: Her having Alita Tiala's sprites and only using her smiling or concerned poses was the first step to this. Having her be so very overly-sweet and gentle that
Spoiler : Turnabout Bloodlines :
even when she's snapping at you for accusing her father of killing her mother,
she STILL stops herself to make sure she's not being too mean is the second.
Dark And Troubled Past: Still developing one as we speak... Heartwarming Orphan: They do have their moments... The Ingenue: Very innocent and unassuming. Leitmotif: This version of Dahlia Hawthorne's theme. Lonely Rich Kid/Friendless Background: I don't think this was actually went into, but after their father was convicted of murder, all of the other kids at school started avoiding the Atmey siblings, mainly for fear that murder may run in the family. As a result, they really only have each other and their Bellboy - sorry, their butler - for friends. Meaningful Name/Punny Name: A pun off of "gaze at me". Nice Gal: Keep in mind that she spends most of the case at odds with you. Despite this, she thinks it's unfair when the gallery starts ganging up on you - only to also stop and wonder if it's rude to get on to them for this, considering they're doing it in support of her - constantly stops herself and apologizes when she thinks she's being too mean, despite the fact that she never even comes close to doing that, and really doesn't like it when you're threatened with a penalty that she believes is too harsh. A penalty that was only going to be administered in the event that you badger her, due to her frailty, I might add. The Quiet One Shrinking Violet: Typically very quiet and gentle. Theme Naming: Like her father and brother, her namepun is a variation of "look at me". Verbal Tic: Whenever she's particularly unsure of herself, she has a habit of letting her words just kind of fade away into silence... Wide-Eyed Idealist The Woobie: Your Milage May Vary, of course, but I'm definitely going for it, so...
Carmen Atmey (Carr-men At-me)
Wife of Luke, and mother of Star and Grace Atmey. It's said that she was a kind-hearted soul. Unfortunately, she died in a tragic car accident years before we meet her children.
The current Chief Prosecutor of Phoenix Wright's district, and by all accounts, a rather frightening individual. He's obsessed with darkness, to the point to where he makes sure his office is constantly shrouded in it by nailing the drapes over the windows so that not a single speck of light could come in from them. Somehow, he's able to see perfectly in the dark. He's even somehow taught himself to read black words on black paper, in pitch blackness!
Anime Hair: Added by his spriter, for some reason. Black Magic: Examining his bookcase shows a plethora of grim books, one of which being a book of dark magical spells and curses. Maya and Pearl note that they can feel a dark aura when they're around him, and when he steps into a room, it instantly gets colder. (Like an Anti-Gant.) Bunny Ears Lawyer: Albeit a less silly example than is typical in this franchise - there's no reason at all to think he tones down his darkness obsession while prosecuting cases.
Spoiler : Redeemer Part 4 and 5 :
The Chessmaster: Set up several events in a plan that, had it worked, would've accomplished three huge things for him. 1. It would've gotten rid of Godot. 2. It would've framed Maggey for his murder. And 3. It would've set her up to look like the one that aided Morgan rather than Fiscal. He's also particularly good at predicting his enemies' move and setting traps for them, as was naturally shown in his testimonies, most notably the first. He was even able to coach Furio Tigre on what to do, in the event that he got called up to take the stand, to the point to where he started to seem like a Magnificent Bastard. If it weren't for Furio Tigre failing to kill Godot, running down White, and then accidentally admitting to being a member of the Reapers, he most likely would've won.
Creepy Monotone: Obviously there wasn't much to show this, but I more-or-less envision him speaking with this - when he's not breaking the sound barrier with his screams, that is... Dark Is Not Evil: He believes that this much is true, atleast. Whether or not it actually applies to him is yet to be seen...
Spoiler : :
Aaaand it does not. Not at all. Of course, if you'd ask him, he'd tell you it's not really the darkness that makes him evil, and he doesn't make any use of the dark in his plans...
Death Glare Evil Is Deathly Cold: Rooms have a tendency to get exceedingly cold when he walks into them, for seemingly no reason other than this. Evil Sounds Deep: Noted by Phoenix as having a rather frightening and deep voice. Hell Is That Noise: His positively delightfulcustom scream SFX, which was created by taking the standard Shouting SFX, putting it into Windows Movie Maker and editing it to raise it's volume up to it's peak.
Meaningful Name: 'Dean' is a synonym for 'chief', and 'Fiscal' is a Spanish word for 'prosecutor'. Guess what his occupation is... Leitmotif: "Cell Arrives"
"The Reason You Suck" Speech/Hannibal Lecture: Likes to hand these out, in the form of morbid rants or stories, that he then relates to you in a way that amounts to "You're a pitiful person that should give up on both this, and your life." Red Baron: The Dean Of The Dark and/or The Dean Of Darkness.
Glad to see that it's finally up! (Sure took ya long enough. ) Can't wait to play Redeemer.
I can't wait to finish it~
What do you think of the chapter titles I gave for the Bloodlines parts, by the way? Dunno why I felt like doing that, but seemed like it could be cool. Kinda helps set them apart from each other, y'know?

We should like merge all the threads together because this amazing series needs more hype
It's an insult to all things that represent quality that this hasn't surpassed the Ace Prosecutor thread
Also, I told Zeel I'd try to write up synopsises (Is there even a pluralfor the word?) for the series to help hype it up, we'll see if those wind up being used...

Yes, that's exactly correct. The purpose of the test is to test whether you have an understanding of the material, not if you've simply memorized it and can regurgitate it. In fact, I'm sure the reason he put the 'trick questions' on the test was in order to see who understood the material and was paying attention and who was simply memorizing facts without taking the time and effort to actually understand them.

Ah, yes, I noticed those! I think they add quite a nice touch.
...someone will have to remind me why Chapter 2's is 'White-Out', though.
I'd rather keep the threads the way they are. I like to leave the past untouched so people can look back and see it later.
Gonna be keeping track of the framecount for Redeemer, as has become standard fare for me~

Redd White plays a big role in it.
And he's out... of prison.

Oh hell yeah Relived Turnabouts! I'm glad to see it finally has a topic. Now I can check it every 5 minutes. Speaking of things to check, glad to see Redeemer finally has a frame count. Are you aiming for it to be huge like Part 3 of Bloodlines, or quicker like Parts 1 and 2?

Overall, it should probably end up being longer than Bloodlines. I'll try and avoid another Part 3-sized trial part, but I can't really make any promises - I'm not really good with predicting this stuff.

Welcome back, and it's good to see that TRT has its own series thread now. No more complaining from Meph.
