What's this? ANOTHER Rp by got? Surely I must be crazy! Well, I may be crazy, but... ... ...Shut up.
OBLIVION INDUSTRIES
Spoiler : Premise :
Years in the future, a factory exists. "Oblis Industries", an incorporation founded by David Oblis, is famous for creating fully-functional robots to assist the lives of citizens. Each robot is created with AI, so that they can learn and process their duties. But in a certain factory, located in an abandoned ghost town in Pennsylvania, the robots all live trapped and forgotten, and full of Rogue robots. Yet it still runs. The robots just "live" and try to find their way in "life". This is where you come in.
Spoiler : Story :
You play as the different robots that exist in the forgotten Oblis Industries factory. It is your job to give your robots life, and to make them accomplish their life goals, whether it be to fulfill the duty they were created for, to escape the factory, or anything in between. This includes fighting off the Rogues, which I'll get into later.
Spoiler : Rules :
These rules apply to everyone:
NO invincibility Keep the language clean if possible NO SPAMMING Post everything OOC in spoilers You have to post your profile when you join You CAN return the game if you have died, though you'll need to make a different character When battling another character, you need to give them a chance to survive (ie Allow them to fight back or dodge an attack) NO god-mods No back-seat modding If you want to make a huge plot twist, contact me and any other person involved Your characters MUST be robotic, no humans (androids are okay, but no cyborgs) HAVE FUN!
Spoiler : Character Sheet :
Use this as an outline for your profiles (You can create up to 3 characters):
Username: (Your username) Character's Name: (The name of your robot) Robot Duty: (The robot's job-see Duty List below) Appearance: (Physical appearance) History: (Backstory?) Abilities: (Any weapons or skills?)
Spoiler : Robot Duties :
To complete your profile, you need to choose a duty, or what they were designed to do. There are three kinds of duties, and each branch out to other jobs. These are the three branches to choose from:
Life Care: These robots were created to assist humans and other robots in their daily work. They mainly help keep the factory tidy and provide help for the other robots. Examples: maids, chefs, merchants, etc.
War and Battle: These robots were created to destroy and defeat. They tend to be much stronger and occasionally larger, as they are designed as either super soldiers or mass-murder machines. Ex: assassins, mecha, soldier droids, etc.
Test and Experimental: The robots designed to test out new contraptions so humans don't have to. They are commonly the less functional robots that were considered malfunctional. Ex: basically, a robot version of Chell (from Portal) or target practice, etc.
Spoiler : NPCs :
These are MY characters, the ones that I'll be controlling throughout the game, that provide help (or the opposite...), or just know more then any of the players do.
Dr. Evans: The only human in the entire facility, Dr. Evans runs the place and is in charge of all the robots. Nobody ever sees more then a sillhouette of him in his office, but he speaks over the intercom frequently. He runs all tests.
DUKE-03: The enormous heart-like AI that oversees everthing Evans doesn't in Oblis Industries. DUKE-03 lacks emotion, and appears as a giant black eyeball-shaped robot held up by thick wires to the ceiling in the control chamber. He keeps the entire facility running.
Flora Oblis: The daughter of David Oblis resides in the factory due to a chemical explosion a few years prior that presumeably killed her. However, she was really discovered by a mysterious robot that helped her by creating machinery to replace the parts of her body that she lost. She is now in the care of A.M.U., and is the only cyborg in the facility. She doesn't talk much, and gives off a depressing aura. She is 16 years old.
A.M.U.: The Alert Medical Unit is a nurse android that helps repair destroyed robots, usually with improvised parts. She is also the caretaker of flora, who she looks at like a daughter. she can be found in the Hospital Ward most of the time.
TOM: An odd android that can be seen wandering around speaking to himself. He's supposedly an old test robot that had his AI screwed up due to too many chemical treatments, but nobody knows for sure. Everything he says is cryptic and nonsensical, and he's basically off in his own little world of craziness.
Colonel Lex: The former leader of the robot sector of the military, Lex was trapped in the factory and will not be let out by DUKE-03. He is a very angry droid who refuses to get along with others.
GiGi: A guide robot that introduces everything to the robots once they are created. She serves as an excellent source of information around the factory. She is very perky, and she considers DUKE-03 as her "Papa", and Evans as her "Uncle".
The Rogues: A band of robots hidden within the factory that attack other robots and attack their AI in order to turn them into Rogues as well. They are essentially robot zombies, infecting others with their parasites. They are plentiful, but they rarely show themselves.
Spoiler : Characters :
CHARACTERS WHO HAVE SIGNED UP: -Character Name (Username) [Page Number]
These are the different rooms to be found in the factory. A map may be made at a later date.
Testing Chambers-A large room where all experiments take place. Different test stations are covered by large curtains. Hospital Ward-Where A.M.U. works, and harmed robots are repaired. Training Room-A huge room containing different tests and training mechanisms for battle robots. Personal Facilities-Rooms that serve as the bedrooms for robots. Three robots fit in one facility. Heart chamber-A large tube-shaped room that house DUKE-03.
Other locations will be named throughout the game. If you want to name a new location, just tell me in a spoiler first and I'll accept or deny it.
Well, that's all you need to know for now. After five sign-ups, Oblivion Industries will begin!

Character's Name: VEERS. (Virtual Empathy Emotion and Reality Simulator) And MACY. (Mobile Artificial Intelligence Computer Engine. MAICE changed to MACY)
Robot Duty: Life Care. VEERS is a 'philosophical' AI, used to run tests on how things effect the human and Robot mind - such as how it impacts on their emotions and psychs. MACY is a 'smart' computer. She is used as an interface throughout the facility to converse with other robots. Both systems are available to talk to any systems that need them for any reason.
Appearance: Both VEERS and MACY are two different 'forms' of the same computer program, situated in the facility-wide computer network. When it is crucial they/it can upload into mobile units, or one of the numerous floating spheres studded into walls and ceilings all around the facility.
History: The VEERS/MACY Program has been running for many years, helping around the facility. They are aware of each others existence, but neither really cares.
Abilities: While not having any real weapons, they can use the weaponry in any unit they upload into. MACY can use advanced hacking an virus software when it is needed. VEERS can 'mind-screw' with most robots. They both use Paradox proof coding that ignores anything that might cause a Paradox error.

There. Is that acceptable? I really hope so.

I like it, accepted! Though they count as two characters, if that's fine with you.

Appearance: It's a grey and rusty metal box (no paint) about 40cm in size with 2 mechanical arms at the top right and left corners and 4 spherical wheels on the bottom corners. The arms are attached via a ball joint and has an additional ball joint in the middle to facilitate movement. The front and rear part of the arm can also extend when required. When not using its arms, they are bent back with the front part forward and flat against the box (looking a bit like a chicken leg when bent). There is a screen at the top of it which can display its status or other information. It usually stays blank and thus black in color. The bottom can actually be opened to reveal a large number of (legacy) ports.
History: It was built has a robot to test a set of cake serving tools. It's instructions were simply to find and cut up any cakes, then serve them. After which, it was to analyse the success of the operation by looking at the reactions of any surrounding humans and appearance of the served cake. Then repeat. However, it has yet to find any cake is its quest to fulfill its mission. Due to an accident by one of the researchers, which jokingly fed the data "The cake is a lie." into the robot, it malfunctioned. It was quickly abandoned for Ver. Cupcake. It still hasn't lost it's original goal of finding the cake(s) that it was made for. However, due to the information given to it, it questions what a "cake" is, and believes that when it has finally found what "cake" is, it will achieve its true meaning. Thus, it searches for cake. And it has been doing so for years. It's an extremely old robot, so its AI is not very advanced, nor is its components. It's already exceeded the lifetime of its components, and is breaking down.
Abilities: It has a cake server attached to its left arm and a cake knife attached to its right arm. Both are metal. The knife has a special very sharp serrated edge designed to slice through brittle or soft things without affecting the sides. The rear part of the arms can extend from 0.4m to 1.6m and the front part can extend from 0.3m to 1.5m, making a total reach of 3.1m. Each of the arms have a small camera on it, along with 4 cameras on each side of the box. There is also a speaker and microphone inside for input and output.
... This is portal inspired, right? We aren't just blatantly driving that meme into the ground, right? Because I think we're going to hit bedrock soon.

In a way, you could consider it a serious "joke character". Yeah, it's filled with the brim with memes and jokes, but I'm intending to have it go about and, eh... well, be a character. Discovering stuff and all. I don't expect it to fight properly though.

Username: Holhol1235 Character's Name: Emi (EMOTION MOBILE INHUMAN) Robot Duty: Test and Experimental Appearance: Has an appearance of a white female human for the most part. However, as indicated by her distinct red left eye, she's obviously not human. Light blue hair that's tucked behind her "ears". Wears a test-subject's clothes (whatever those may be, but I'm think a tank-top and sweat pants ). History: Emi was modeled after a scientists daughter, Emily, who importantly met her demise in Oblis Industries after an accident. The scientist devoted his time to create Emi and was pleased with her outcome. However, he died before she was completely finished. Thus, she became a test subject and has devoted her time since then to complete tasks humans normally couldn't do. Abilities: Very skilled in aerobics. Also has some sort of scanner in her eye that allows her to process information.

Actually, it was more inspired by Alisa Bosconovitch from Tekken, but I guess I indirectly based it on Chell

(You don't mind if I make a character based on another character, do you? Username: Enigma Name: CARNAGE (Creation And Removal Non-human Attack Generator Electroid) Robot Duty:Test and Experimental/War and Battle Appearance:A mass of red wires that constitutes a black metal humanoid frame. Two white bone like pipes come out of its sides. History: To keep up with other countries, Oblivis industries started to develop a prototype robot which could be used for many purposes at once as well as use its AI to try to develop itself. Using electromagnetic fields and a small compartment in its chest CARNAGE can create any thing input into it's AI. It's primary use was in the war department to design weapons whenever soldiers on the field needed it as well as making barricades and electron-charged attacks of it's own. However, it's limited energy life due to its astronomical electrical output made it unfit for its purpose. After making around 5 objects CARNAGE will run down and need to recharge itself. Though it has a backup motor which allows it to continue to walk and run once it runs out of power, it is practically useless. For this reason CARNAGE was abandoned as a project. Yet, still its AI is running trying to develop ways to improve itself. Abilities: The ability to instantly construct anything given that there is enough materials with even a single atom of metal in them in the room. The ability to create electrical attacks.

Hm, I'm a little worried about the possibilities of his powers, but as long as you don't abuse them or spam with them, then accepted.
Oh, and it's "Oblis" Industries.
