This RP is sort of based on an old mystery series I wanted to write, but never got it down... Anyways, this story is an old-fashioned murder mystery scenario... with a twist.
Story: 13 strangers stranded on a deserted island, with no idea how they got there, who took them there, or why they were taken in the first place. Beyond the beach is a vast ocean, and on the island is a vast and cruel forest, filled with vicious and hungry beasts... But in between the two, there is a large, luxurious mansion, filled with riches and comfort...
As well as a mysterious curse. It is said that the mansion belonged to "The Phantom of the Night Sky", an enigmatic gentleman said to possess powers beyond that of man. Strange things have happened in it; disappearing objects, disembodied voices calling to the guests, and the mysterious "Servants of the Phantom" that roam the mansion.
A lone man, a butler, may hold the key to the secrets, but alas! It is not long before he meets his unfortunate end, and at the hands of one of the 13, no less!
A single detective appears to solve the mystery. After his investigation, he prepares to reveal his findings...
Spoiler : Prologue :
The mansion stood at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the stormy seas... The black of night was the backdrop of the midnight scene. The rain fell slowly, and peppered the ground. An occasional lightning bolt flashed through the sky.
Inside the mansion, the detective walked slowly past the grand window looking in on the main dining hall. 13 guests sat at the table, each one fiddling with their own devices as they watched the detective stride around the room, his eyes closed in thought, and his hand placed thoughtfully on his chin. Suddenly he stopped, eyes open, and turning to face the other guests.
"I've figured it out!" He declared, his eyes flashing. "The one who masterminded this whole affair and murdered the butler in cold blood was..."
As he was about to swing forth his arm and declare the identity of the killer, the group at the table reared back in shock. The detective whirled around to see the grand window, where, on the other side, a floating man stood, surrounded by the whirling storm behind it. In a flash, the window shattered, raining glass upon the guests and detective, and the chandelier hanging from the ceiling feel with a crash, pulverizing the table below and shrouding the room in blackness.
There were panicked cries, and for a moment, the room fell into silence, only the wind and rain breezing through the broken window.
A flash of lightning! The room was lit for an instant, and two shadows appeared; A sword, slicing through the back of the detective! Then a final cry of despair, and all was silent...
The thirteen guests now look about in fear; the detective lying on the table, dead.
Who is the mysterious Phantom? Who is the mastermind? And what does this entail?
Rules: If you wish to join, please fill out the application below.
Name: Age: Occupation: (Note: If one person has already selected an occupation, you may not choose it.) Appearance: (An image is not necessarily needed, but would be helpful.) Bio: (Make it brief, but descriptive.) Theory: (What the character believes happened. You don't need to fill this out yet, but you can if you like.)
Please follow the basic rules of roleplays. Remember to be respectful, and no God-Modding (Whatever that is). Multiple characters are allowed, but no more than 2.
Nights The story will take place over several "Nights". Night 1 will begin as soon as we have our thirteen guests (Not counting the victims). Each "Night" will have a theme; you are only allowed to do certain things during each one, similar to in AA. There will be "Investigation", "Deduction", "Free", and, in certain situations, "Danger".
In Investigation Nights, the guests will roam free throughout the mansion and pick up evidence and form theories. They may create "teams" or work individually to solve the many mysteries throughout the mansion. They can question each other, examine areas, and make deductions, but they cannot voice these until the Deduction Night, which will immediately follow it. Assistant Timekeepers are allowed to give clues during this time, if they so desire.
In Deduction Nights, the guests will pit their wits against each other and try to discover the true culprit, similar to the court scenes in AA. The guests will gather in the Main Dining Hall, and share their findings with the others, and present evidence, similar to AA. This is the most important part of the RP; the Night will end once a mystery has been solved. The guests are allowed to freely show whatever evidence they've collected at appropriate times, but you are allowed to withhold it as well, until the situation fits. Accusations can be made and theories can be presented, but they must be denoted as such. For example: Theory:"The killer was not a fish!" or Accusation:"Shadowsleuth is the killer!"
If a character accuses another, it becomes an Argument, where both sides must prove their claims using the most convincing evidence or information they have. During this time, other guests may interject, but only if they have relevant information. If the conversation does not go anywhere, then either myself or an Assistant Timekeeper can declare it irrelevant and end it.
If nothing is discovered during the night, it will be declared a failure and a "Penalty" will be issued. Penalties can be anything from losing evidence to a certain character being locked away for a night.
Free Nights will allow the guests to do what they please, and allows them to flesh out their characters a bit more. They are able to roam the area freely, discuss things with other guests, or take a breather from the last night's events.
Danger Nights will only come rarely, and when they do, something shocking will happen that causes the guests to take action of some sort.
Each Night will be started with a short narration from the Timekeeper, myself, or in certain cases, an Assistant Timekeeper. The Nights will also be ended this way once the goal of the Night is accomplished.
The Mastermind Since we cannot have a mystery without a Mastermind, I will allow anyone who wishes to be the mastermind to PM me with their request, but DO NOT vocalize it or say that you will do so, as that would defeat the purpose of the RP. A Mastermind will be selected randomly from the applicants, and I will PM the applicants with the result. If no one applies, I will randomly assign the role to one of the 13 guests. A Mastermind has been chosen. The Mastermind is the one behind the murders, and the secrets of the mansion. He/she is one of the 13 guests on the island, and will be trying to discreetly undermine the investigation and stop the guests from finding the truth. The Mastermind will have the most knowledge of the story, and will occasionally receive PMs from me to fill them in on things they should know. Once someone has been accused of being the Mastermind, proof will be needed to capture him/her. If you fail, a Penalty can be issued. When the true Mastermind is accused and captured, the game is won.
Remember! Just because you fail once doesn't mean that it's not the Mastermind!
Timekeeper and Assistant Timekeepers I am the main Timekeeper, and will control most of the game. However, I will also have Assistant Timekeepers to help out. Assistant Timekeepers will have extended knowledge of the mysteries of the island and are not considered guests. In game they will interact normally with the guests, and during Investigation Nights, they can give clues based on the info they have. Out of the game, they will monitor things in place of me whenever I am absent. They can notify me of problems they see and act as "moderators" of the RP. Assistant Timekeepers will also be in-game characters, so they will require a separate application.

Bio: Aven started his career as an unpaid interim at the age of 16. After he finished university at 21, the company hired him at an executive level. He spent the next three years at the same job, before finally getting a promotion to vice president. At the age of 27 he staged a 'coup' inside the company. Aven faked that the companies main production line had failed and was being shut down. The company stocks fell so low that the president and most of the shareholders dumped their stock, which Aven immediately bought. He released a statement that the crisis had been a false alarm, and a few short weeks after that, took the seat of president, as he was now majority shareholder.
Theory: The phantom is not real. He is most likely not even a person. It must have been a remote control helicopter holding up a human rag doll or robotic puppet, most likely controlled by someone on the island.

The strongest bonds you can make are the ones you aren't looking for, the ones that surprise you. I'm speaking from experience, so I believe in that pretty strongly. Think that's why so many relationships fail, because people wind up forcing themselves to find good in the other person, play up who they are to appear more attractive to them... but well... real love is being yourself, with someone who cares about you and accepts you for who you are.

Name: Lance Stiny Age: 20 Occupation: Student Appearance: He's of average height. He usually wears jeans and a tan (or light) collared shirt.... and sometimes even with a bolo tie. He has medium-short, sort-of shaggy brown hair. And to complete the look, a nice cowboy hat. Bio: Lance likes things to go his way. If everything is going smoothly the way he wants it (even if he hasn't explicitly stated this is how he wants it) he has no problems just sitting back and letting things happen. He doesn't always need to talk... but when he does talk, he makes sure he's heard. When he talks--especially when explaining something--he tends to use grand (sometimes overly-dramatic) language, although he usually doesn't take too long to get to the point. He especially likes to use his hat in his 'dramatic' gestures. He is in active participant in theater on campus. He wants to try to make it big on Broadway and/or Hollywood.... but knows it's a long shot, which is why he's earning his degree first. He usually has a slight southern accent, but can make it full-blown or disappear (as well as a few other accents) His pet peeve is not being trusted/taken seriously because of his experience (or lack thereof)/age, but sometimes, well, the other person is right. Theory: He doesn't know yet, of course
(Now let's see how long it takes you gaiz to notice )
I'll be controlling two separate characters, one that plays one of the original guests as well as one to play Assistant Timekeeper. The former shall be my guest and the latter my AT.
Guest Name: Klein Satura Age: 38 Occupation: Unemployed; Heir Appearance: Klein's incredibly dark hair and smooth face manage to compliment his white dress suit incredibly well. He stands at a solid 6'3'' and has a very solid build. His skin is slightly tanned, but he prefers to keep it rather light. Bio: Klein was born into a wealthy family and, resultantly, has never worked a day in his life. He has professional chefs and trainers and is in perfect shape. He was visiting the island as his family had heard that someone wealthy had lived there and that there was quite a fortune to be found. Theory: "Getting money by means of violence is certainly uncalled for. I sure hope I get my way with whomever did this."
Assistant Timekeeper Name: Christian Dissarea Age: 35 Occupation: Mobster Appearance: Christian is one the most seemingly uptight individuals with his attire. That being that his only attire is a black tuxedo, black dress pants, white undershirt, and a red tie. His thick, brown hair is always swept to the side to keep it out of his eyes, held in place by some unknown force. His features are smooth and rounded, as he keeps himself in perfect shape. Bio: Christian is in a gang. While he was only 5 years old, he and his brother, Shawn (2 at the time) witnessed their parents being killed by members of the Vermilion Order, the gang they now preside in. Although one might think they'd have contempt for the people that killed their family, Christian was always thankful for it as his parents were certainly not the best role models. Abusive and alcoholic, Christian felt nothing other than joy to see them die and was more than willing to join the Order.
Over the years, Christian complimented his brother, who was incredibly bulky and powerful, with his immensely sharp wit. The two quickly climbed the ranks as the two brothers performed heist after murder with flawless precision brought on by Christian's intelligence and ease by Shawn's brute strength. Inevitably, Christian was torn from his brother as he was sent solo on a mission to an island with a mansion, his objective to secure a large amount of money on it by any means necessary. Christian is unaware of what they'll be having Shawn doing in his absence. Theory: "I have nothing to say on the matter, though I assure you that I'll do everything in my power to find the murderer... and make sure he doesn't make it out with my money..."

A long, bright green dress with yellow checkered sleeves. Bio: Was swept up in a case before finally appearing as a guest. Theory: None as of yet. She has to investigate first. Oh, and one more thing. She's amnesiac, so she has no idea what her far past was like.

The result being that he is calm, collective, like a leader, but usually does not lead, and from time to time he can also be the comic relief. Otherwise, he only makes theories based on clues and ideas. (His hair is a wig)

Has a normal-sized moustache.(interpret "normal-sized" as you deem fit xD) Usually wearing a bowler hat and a brownish suit. Bio: Successful investor who used to live in Britain. If there's one thing he's learned because of his profession, it's that you shouldn't make a gamble unless you're well-prepared. Therefore he gives much thought to each of his statements. Sometimes he just can't resist making a cynical remark though. Theory: "It's too early to make a theory."
