It was some relief to know that she wasn't the only one taken from her proper place. Still, she knew they weren't getting back anytime soon. It would be wise to make friends and allies, but to make them wisely. So far, this "Kaito" seemed like an alright guy but she wanted to test him.
Wording her question carefully, she asked, "Perhaps there are others who are trapped here as well. Maybe, if we work together, we could find a way to get everyone home, right?"

Kaito took off his hat, showed her the inside, which had nothing in it, and and set it down in front of him. He reached inside, and pulled out a smaller hat. Then, a bouquet of flowers popped out, as well as confetti and streamers. "That kind of magic." Kaito replied.

While it was puzzling and entertaining, Samus could not see how Kaito's magic could be useful in the conflicts or events they were sure to face. Still she managed a smile and giggled a little.

Samus laughed and then tried to stop so she might not offend her new friend. Was he really serious? A gun that fired playing cards?!
"Um, is that it?" she tried to say nicely. "I meant something more like this, eh heh."
She charged up her stun gun, and released as a lazer whip came out of it and scratched burnt a line on the carpet. The etched line had vapor steaming off of it.
"I'm sorry I think it's funny, but do you really expect me to believe you could use playing cards in battle?"
