That's exactly what merging frames does; it causes the text in the successive frames to appear in one box in the game. If you want them to be separate, then just don't merge the frames
Merged frames are mostly used if you want to have an sfx play mid-textbox or if you want the character sprite to change mid-textbox.

Well, how do I make it advance as soon as the text has finished?
Damn, I suck at this.
Check out my new thingy too. It's meant to be the HP that goes down quickly. (It looks awesome.)
(If you put a number in there, the frame will wait that long before automatically advancing to the next frame. It's in centiseconds, so if you put in 100, it will wait 1 second.)
