Sometimes when you want to show the sprite hesitating with their dialogue, they pause, right? But the way I do it, I put a timer on the side and pauses where I want them to be and a pause after the sentence. How do I just pause it without having the arrow disappearing?

I also remember seeing something like [#p50] or something like that before...

Yeah, that's the way I do it. If you want to have the character simply pause, either use the tag [#] or [#px], where x is the time in centiseconds (x/100 seconds). I don't know how long the pause is for the [#] tag, but I believe it's one full second.

I use this to change moods or expressions mid-text. I have the pause tags combined with merging texts to achieve this effect.

Oh, and if you don't want the text to go over three lines (which can happen if one simply types out the tags while typing the tags), type out the character's text in full and break it up appropriately.

I see. Thanks for clearing it up. Now let me experiment that in my goof trial.

I tried [#50] and that was a half second.

Yeah, I know. 100 is one second.

[#50] doesn't work - it just triggers a default pause like any tag, but isn't interpreted. So you could put [#2000] and you'd probabbly have the same result. It's [#p50] that works, and does pause for half a second.
Also, [#] is a one second pause, yes :-)

Must be a trick 'o' the mind then. It always seems shorter when I use [#50] rather then [#p50]. Hurm.

Yes, it should be 1s for any unrecognised tag. [#25] will still be 1s.
[#p25] will be 250ms :-)

What the? Theres more [#] codes? This is the first time I've heard of it!

Is there a list with all of these [#p50] and the likes? I can make a guide for getting the most out of these things, just tell me where to look.

And to get on-topic, I've always went to the box to put the number of seconds I wanted to get a sprite to hesitate, good to know there's another method for doing it :p

There are five ones, [#]standard pause, [#f]flash, [#s]shake, [#p50]custom pause and [#var:example]variable insertion.

[#var:example] displays the value of the variable "example"
