Weekend cartoons are always in French for me (and my brother).
It also helps that my mom knows French. And s0l0.. as for your question..
If you could form a full paragraph, yourself, and be confident that it was correct, you would most likely be a bit more advanced in French, understanding sentence structure and whatnot. You would be understood, whether it's France or Quebec. If you say things a bit differently, you would be able to catch on, since you would be confident in French. So not to worry.
