The truth will set you free.... Alrighty, I am going to post here my sort-of a side project I'm working on along with Downfall (well, actually, I've been spending my time more on this than on Downfall, but w/e). And while most people will say: 'Projects that are handled by people who are already working on another project is bound to fail!', I'm going ahead and saying 'No'. One of the big advantages I found with the AAO editor is the ability to get an insane amount of work done in an insanely short amount of time (something that would usually take days with PyWright). The main reason behind this is that I'm instantly able to determine if certain conversations are rushed just by the frame count. And, testing is surprisingly a lot easier... But! I'm getting off-topic. (My OWN topic, at that). Denouement is... something of an, you could say, 'interesting' little case. It features a lot of experimantal things in terms of actual storytelling that is out of the standard AA form. (I won't get into details, but it is something that should be noted). So, what is it about? Well, it's an AU (Alternate Universe) story featuring a timeline where AJ, basically, never occured and this case occured instead of it. I won't exactly say what has occured to create this timeline, but let's just say that a lot of things have been changed regarding the canon established in AJ. Speaking of canon - this case will break canon more that Mr. Plinkett broke the Star Wars Prequels' will to live. Seriously. Why did I decide to take this route? Well, I didn't intend this to be an AU story when I started writing it, but I came to a realization that some things were always limiting me and that, no matter how much I tried, I couldn't break free of the pre-established 'prison bars' that was canon. So, I decided to leave it drunk in the ditch and do whatever the hell I want. (This can also be a great excuse is the characters are OOC). In all seriousness, I should probably tell you what it's about. Well, here's the thing... I don't think that would be such a good idea in this case. There are a lot of things I wanted to keep as surprises and just... not spoil them! BUT! Before you leave, I did make a trailer! TrailerCompleted Parts Now onto some general information: General Information wrote: Difficulty: Medium - Hard (Originally intended it to be just 'Medium', but two seconds later when I learned the variables system I changed my mind. Length: Unknown as of now. Features:- Standard AA Features (Investigations, Perceive (the Thursday version) and Cross-Examinations)
- An Alternate Universe Setting used as a playground to do whatever I wanted with the story
- Unique Storytelling (And no, I won't elaborate, sorry.)
Progress so far:Part 1 ~ Investigation [100% - Complete!] Part 2 ~ Trial Former [Started] Part 3 ~ Trial Latter [Not Started; Planned] Screenshots: Well, that's all from me... For now, that is.

That trailer certainly didn't fail to catch my interest and I'm sure that was only because of the use of a Umineko bgm.
Intriguing, yet so vague I don't even know what to expect. The AU competition has already proven just how much fun alternate timelines can be, so we'll see...

Quote: Intriguing, yet so vague I don't even know what to expect. Aha, well, that was kind of the point. XD Just because you don't know what to expect will make it all the more interesting the first time you play it, right? (That was the logic I was going by, anyway).

Awesome! The premise seemed similar to the main plot point of my Secrets of a Turnabout, at first, but the story seems far deeper. I'm intrigued by how this is an alternate universe, because it seems like it's meant to be an episode 5 in AJ. Was that what you were originally planning?

Quote: The premise seemed similar to the main plot point of my Secrets of a Turnabout, at first, but the story seems far deeper. Well, while it certianly won't be easy for Apollo here either, no - the concepts are actually wildly different. Quote: I'm intrigued by how this is an alternate universe, because it seems like it's meant to be an episode 5 in AJ. Was that what you were originally planning? Well, no. Originally it was just meant to be this one small case. Glad you liked it.

I realize it was for the sake of surprise. I wouldn't want it any other way. (Well actually I'd prefer to not even know of case's existance until its actual release. That'd make the waiting so much easier. Too bad there's so much enjoyment in teasing others with vague trailers and other things pre-actual-release. I can understand why you couldn't resist. xP)

Yeah. To be honest, my inital plan was to just wait until I completed the investigation. But, then I passed 800 frames and... I... couldn't... resist.
(Even though I haven't even left the Detention Center yet...)

The purpose of the test is to test whether you have an understanding of the material, not if you've simply memorized it and can regurgitate it. In fact, I'm sure the reason he put the 'trick questions' on the test was in order to see who understood the material and was paying attention and who was simply memorizing facts without taking the time and effort to actually understand them.

I don't get it. What are we keeping score of? (And I thought it was established Zeel was now frame count master, or something along those lines...) DWAM: The benefits of an editor indeed... I always found when writing PyWright scripts that my conversations were far too short, so with the editor, I can easily measure just how long they need to be... I'm looking forward to Denouement.

I always found when writing PyWright scripts that my conversations were far too short, so with the editor, I can easily measure just how long they need to be... That was exactly my point. For Downfall, I pretty much spent 50% of my time writing the script, 20% of transferring it to code AND THEN making all the corrections. Here, I go in - write everything I want, see if I'm happy as I go through the lines, give it a quick test (thanks to the 'avancement' function, I don't have to spend 10 minutes going through the scene) and make the necessary corrections.[/quote] Tap wrote: I'm looking forward to Denouement. Glad to hear it. It's really hard to try and promote a trial when you pretty much give no information on it... Well, sorry to disappoint you, but nope. =D

Well, according to my timeline, it has been 24 hours, so I am allowed to double post. Because I'm a douche like that. One - I've pushed it over 1600 frames (yay!). ...That's pretty much 65% done now. Two - More screenshots! I'm actually surprised on how fast I was able to do this. Only four days since I posted this and already I've doubled the frame count and pretty much pushed it to being around 65% done. Well, then again, I've been working non-stop on it, so I can't say I'm too surprised.
