Congratulations, Rune! I just watched the first four videos of Fuandon's Let's Play of Virtual, and he's really chosen a great case to look at! :D

Spoiler : :
Gah, this was absolutely amazing. I love how you made Apollo into a sexy beast a really competent lawyer. The crime was excellent, as usual. I have to say, I felt rather 'meh' about this trial until Exxer showed up. Then suddenly everything was awesome. I'm so intrigued by the 'them' Exxer mentioned and their connection to Apollo. I really liked Exxer as a character, too. His mysterious hooded sprite made him seem mysterious and menacing at the same time. I was slightly disappointed in the end when he took his hood off. :/ I don't know what I was expecting... an Apollo look-a-like or a Chekhov's Gunman or something, probably. XD That pose of his where he balances the knife on his finger suits him perfectly. Also, the way he kept on coming up with new explanations and the way Apollo kept on cornering him was ridiculous and awesome at the same time.

And about Klavier... I was sure he was going to accuse Exxer of attempted murder. His attempted murder, that is. Triple murder... I would have guessed Klavier's family, but...Kristoph...I don't know. Anyway, I absolutely can't wait for Case 3!

A few mistakes I spotted:

"And that guy was the masterbehind behind it all!" Erm...yeah. Kinda ruined the dramatic moment for me LOL. Also, I would suggest changing 'that guy' to 'this man'. It sounds more badass 'official'.

"Are you going to accuse me of murder because of a few careless statement I made?" I'm not entirely sure on this one, because I clicked through it quickly, but I think you forgot an S. Not 100% certain though, maybe I was just imagining things.

"Ugh...another comeback. He seems completely save again." You probably meant 'safe'. ^^

Also, you tend to say, 'make me into a murder' a lot. That should be 'make me a murderer', I think. No 'into'. It just doesn't flow well.

In retrospect, I probably should have just had him keep his hood on for the time being...
Well I'm glad you enjoyed it, and yeah, there was a looooot of intriguing foreshadowing in this part. Stay tuned. ;)

I've just realised: in TDG Trial, you've uploaded Confess the Truth 2011. You might as well use the one available in AAO, now, to save bandwidth. :) Also, you might want to crop the music in most of the custom music that you use. Most of them are about 3 MiB, and -- considering the amount of people who play featured trials -- that's a lot of bandwidth to waste, per person! Plus, it takes ages to download.

And if you're wondering why I'm looking at your trials in the Editor, I just thought of doing it after watching this playthrough. :P

Funny, that's exactly the part of the playthrough I'm currently at. xD

I'm aware of my problems with bandwidth, considering my last release crashed my dropbox...
But I'm really not a fan of cropping down music, so... I'm conflicted. D:

Try not relying on solely DropBox. I use Upload-Mp3, which has proven to be pretty reliable for my uses in the past. It resets bandwidth daily, and even at the peak of when my trials were using great deals of bandwidth up, I still could have had three times the amount of players playing before it'd cut off direct linking... ^^

But seriously, I don't mind doing it. I'm still waiting for Unas to upload the new sprites for the SCTF, so I might as well do it, if you want.

Just thought of something really crazy for one of these cases, I'll let you do with it what you want. I'm sure you have all the cases planned out though. All I have is a cause of death

The victim was found dead, locked in his apartment with twelve shots to the head at point-blank range, he was also paralyzed due to a severe stab wound in his spine.

Go crazy ;)

^Well I have rough ideas for most cases, and that wouldn't really fit anywhere.

So yeah, this was on super-hiatus for hopefully obvious reasons. Side projects and all. (Man, if I had used all that time and energy on this I'd probably be as far as near the end of case 4 by now.) You'd think after all those trials I'd take a break. But nope, not happening.
Now I can start working on this again. To celebrate this, take a ton of random screens!

In case you forgot, this case is planned to be 5 parts. Something like Investigation - Trial - Investigation - Trial - Trial. Unless the final trial gets too long, in which case I'll just split it up again so that the eyeball is happy. It seems like Mr. Exxer is quite the stubborn one.

I think TDG confirmed that he was stubborn for us. :P

It's a pretty cool case for an idea (at least I think so xD) and if Blackrune added his special charm (<3) it would definitely be super-special-awesome. But Blackrune can say something about it himself ;P

also you seem to liek doing comps, who knows? maybe the perfect theme will crop up ;D

Dammit, /I/ wanted to be the one to bump the thread! D:

...Why? Because I finally finished TDG, that's why. XP

Spoiler : Inconsistent Running Commentary :
- Sooooo to clarify I got stuck in TDG Part 2 a

while ago (like, when it first came out) and never

picked it back up. I wasn't far into Feykneme's

confronatation... I've always wanted to go back and

finish but I either A. didn't feel like playing

fancases, B. was lazy, or C. was too busy (like I

am now actually, but because of reason B I have

decided to spend my time playing this instead of

working on stuff I should be working on... so be

happy about that. Oh, oops, forgot that this was in

parentheses.)

- So my point is that I don't remember a DAMN THING

(well that's not true actually, I remember all of

the characters and that there was a ripped up

suicide note and a boarded up door and like 12

gunshots and... ok so I remember stuff but the

point is I don't remember how it all ties together

and WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IS THAT I'M TOTALLY

STILL ALLOWED TO PRETEND LIKE THIS IS MY FIRST TIME

PLAYING AND I CAN THEORIZE AND JUNK even though I'm

dumb so yeah

- And I picked this up now because I was going

through the ToC thread and then I saw a buncha

posts from NN and I was like awww I miss him :( so

I went through his history and I was like gwufuh I

almost saw TDG spoilers and I haven't played that

yet :o ...I should probably play that so that I can

read them.

- Hey Gumpei, this is the comma key. USE ME MORE,

DAMMIT.

- I remember the first part feeling very short even

though it was over 2000 frames. Like I thought it

was half that when I played.

- Also, I... have actually been spoiled on a couple

of things. ^^ But really it's just that I've seen

the breakdown, and I know the VERY END of it. How

it leads into Executor, that is.

- MUSIC WILL YOU LOAD ALREADY

- I haven't done commentary like this in a while

(last time I remember doing it was for my

incomplete Downfall commentary that I never posted

due to not finishing because laziness) so uhh... I

don't know where I was going with that.

- This is usually how I do it though. I sit here

and talk to you (even though you don't think you

can see me... oh yeah, and I always abuse the

parentheses to the max) until the game loads.

- Which always takes a long time for me. Music at

80%.

- So how was your day, Burr?

- Yeah, yeah, cool. Mine was pretty good. Just

spending it blowing off work while playing fancases

that won't load.

- Sweet zombie Jesus, the trial is going to take

FOREVER to load isn't it.

- We'll be comin' round the mountain when she

cooooooooooooomes

- We'll be comin' round the mountain when she

cooooooooooooooooooooomes

- We'll be comin' round the mountain

- We'll be comin' round the mountain

- We'll be comin' round the mountain when she

coooooooooooooooooooooooomes

- Ok Burr, everyone has stopped reading, now's your

chance to post Executor spoilers! (or Fated if

you're in the mood)

- Y'see, the worst part about this is that when it

says the music is 91% loaded, it doesn't mean it.

It means that all of the music is going to stop

looping after 15 seconds and you'll be spending

most of the game in complete silence SO YOU SHOULD

HAVE WAITED ANOTHER HOUR TO LOAD THE DAMN MUSIC YOU

JERK

- Oh hey, just as I finished typing that, it

finished.

- BEGIN

- Well that last part of the prologue totally

destroyed my ears, so it turns out I didn't need

the music anyway. SHUCKS

- I actually wish I could have streamed this (was

planning a OHoaT stream a few weeks back since I

never finished that either, but I couldn't find a

proper time to do it) but... actually I just

answered why I couldn't in the parentheses, but in

a parallel dimension where that parentheses doesn't

exist, you won't know the reason. So I hope you

don't live in that dimension.

- Egads! I am eating, typing notes, and playing a

fancase all at the same time! My multitasking

ability is maddening, I say! Maddening! (though

technically I can't type notes and play the case at

the same time but SHUT UP)

- "Here is it" WRITING MASTERFUL (or should I say

assterful)

- Wow, this was back when you actually used music

from the AA soundtrack.

- An anonymous sender sent us a vague letter with

tons of money and asking us to come to a mysterious

location?! GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO

- OMG BURR EVERYBODY KNOWS WHAT TO DO IS SUPPOSED

TO BE ABOVE ANY IDEAS GOSH

- Wow it actually feels really weird without fades

XD

- I wish more cases played up Apollo's fame. I

mean, he was in a case that changed the judicial

system. That's pretty big.

- Huh, thought Lira was younger than 16.

- Ok, first thing's first... PRESENT BADGE

- Philo lol

- ...oh wait dammit I just remembere a spoiler that

kinda ruins my opportunity to theorize. ^^ It WAS

suicide... meh.

- yay bad end :D

- aww no bad end ;_;

- Oh yeah, I haven't been saying stuff but I've

been talking to Ema and yeah

- And now I'm at the crime scene.

- Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh THAT'S why this was 2000 frames!

If you say murder, you argue with Ema, and if you

say suicide, you argue with Lira... nicely done,

I'm impressed!

- Also, since this was made with an older version

of the editor the old Witness Testimony/Cross-

Examination things look transparent for some

reason.

- Along with the Hold Its.

- And Objections.

- Basically everything.

- lol Lira's face

- lol dropped tea

- Actually, I'm beginning to question whether I

misread something that made me think it was a

suicide, because I think no suicides is a Dine

rule...

- Though if Feykneme basically MADE him sui then

I'm not sure if that breaks the rule or not,

because he had to have.

- Don't remember seeing that art before.

- Soooooooooooo I just think Feykneme came in

before Jones did, left his insignia, went outside,

waited for Jones to come in, then he barricaded the

door, then Jones was like onoez and started writing

the suicide note, then he ripped it up and was like

"Screw you Jake" and then he wrote the dying

message, then he went pewpew and he was deaded.

- And the dying message bit might be explained by

Feykneme being a master of disguise... which would

also explain if Hikimori saw him go inside, as I

can't remember if he just saw him at the door or

actually saw him go in.

- And while that theory works now, I already know

it's going to be broken because Jones didn't have

pricked fingers or any signs of blood loss anywhere

else or whatever. Would be too easy otherwise.

- So the only REAL impossibility here is that note.

The door was already barricaded when Jake came by,

so Feykneme had to already be out of the house...

but he heard the gunshot then, and if Feykneme was

already gone, he couldn't have made the dying

message, and if the shot went off then, it means

that Jones was still alive, so his blood couldn't

be used to gaaaaaaah

- If his fingers were pricked, then I will be

absolutely amazed. If they aren't, and I know they

aren't, then I will be convinced that this is

impossible.

- And now I'm tired, so I will sleep on this.

- Or maybe I'm not sleeping. I forgot to turn my

headphones off, so I heard it when the loading

finally finished and it made me get up again. So I

guess I'll be playing until I fall asleep on my

keyboard.

- Oh, right, not the victim's handwriting. So I

change that part in my theory about Jones writing

it to Feykneme writing it and leaving it behind

before he barricaded the place.

- Oh, the display boxes are also super transparent.

- Oh holy crap, his finger WAS pricked! mind=blown

- I have a hard time believing it's that simple,

though. I think I would have figured it out even if

I didn't already know it was suicide.

- I started talking to Blader and forgot to write

stuff here. But now I am because I wanted to say

COUNTER CROSS-EXAMINATIONS NOOOOOOOOO THEY ARE ONE

OF THE SEVEN BANES OF MY EXISTENCE

- At least you had the courtesy to make it only

three statements, so I can't possibly die here.

Though I will get every penalty.

- ...oh neat I didn't get penalized there.

- Didn't miss the second.

- Eh. Got two out of three. Probably the best I've

ever done in terms of purely precentage on a

counter CE.

- Ok, got his testimony now. Still easy to explain.

Feykneme was a master of disguise, so he disguised

himself as Jake, went in and shot 10 times with a

silencer equipped, then took the silencer off for

the final shot, then left with the silencer, Jones

came, he barricaded the door, yadda yadda

- wait what udgey you never said anything about

irrelevant pressing at all

- Ok that was a cheap penalty. -_-

- And I'm not even to the difficult part yet BUT

I'VE ALREADY LOST A THIRD OF MY LIFEBAR DUE TO

CHEAP PENALTIES

- And yes, any penalties gained from a counter CE

are automatically cheap based on the fact that they

are IN a counter CE.

- Umm so I see the contradiction but I figured you

just got it by pressing, because he's contradicting

himself rather than the evidence...

- APOLLO WHY ARE YOU NOT POINTING IT OUT.

- I. See. The. Damn. Contradiction. How. Do. I.

Point. It. Out.

- Oh wait, I'm stupid, I see how now.

- Ok, so Hikimori heard two gunshots...? Because my

theory completely falls apart if so.

- But wait, Jake only heard one... hm.

- Ohhhhhh right. Anime. MY THEORY REMAINS INTACT.

- THIS contradiction... I remember it well. Because

it didn't work on my original playthrough for

whatever strange reason.

- Also, Blader just informed me that the

transparency issue is a thing with Chrome, which

I'm still new to (editor no longer works with

Firefox, so I had to switch). Soooo it's not an

issue with the old player or whatever.

- Oh hey, I bet Feykneme disguised himself as Jones

when he met with Jake, too... this was his pre-

setup to indicating Jake for the murder.

- I'm actually super bummed that I already knew

that it was a suicide, because I legitimately think

I could have figured this entire thing out without

knowing that. D:

- Hey I just met you
And this case is crazy
But here's my number
So call me maybe

- NOW IS HIMITSU TIME

- Soooooo I was thinking the contradiction was that

Feykneme recognized him by his unique clothes, but

he says that he could clearly see fresh blood on

them, but he obviously wasn't found with blood on

him, so yeah.

- ...but I have no idea how to point that out.

- L-shaped knife needs to be actually used in a

case.

- lol him lowering the penalties by one point

actually gave me an extra shot.

- According to Blader, I'm way off. raeg

- Ok I gave up and used the walkthrough. T_T

- I hate contradictions like those. ~_~ I mean, a

big hint was given for it, but I'm just in general

not fond of them...

- That contradiction was waaaay too obvious for it

to not have been a trap.

- ...was it seriously not? ^^

- ...that one was also really easy.

- I thought the contradiction now would be that

Jones wouldn't have been able to write the dying

message if he came in WITH Jake... but apparently

not.

- Well the dying message was still involved anyway.

XP

- So this must be the "Black Box Puzzle"

upcoming...

- Y'know, I'm totally confused about this "X person

went inside" thing. I don't get how they go inside

if the door's barricaded. I think I've been sort of

misinterpreting exactly HOW the door was barricaded

for a while now, because that was the reason I came

up with the whole Feykneme disguise theory, because

when Hikimori said he went inside, I thought he

meant he went inside the house and that it was not

barricaded. But considering it also says the

policeman who got the boards knocked off "went

inside", I'm guessing you've meant something

different this entire time, but that's honestly

pretty poor wording... ^^ If I had to take a guess,

I'd say that the door has something of a cave-like

entrance, with it being in kinda a hole with a roof

overhanging it, so that when someone went in it

would hide them from view and make it look like

they had gone inside. Then again, the black box

shows nothing like this.

- >None in particular
Judge: Hm, I see... why is there a problem with

that particular event?
XD

- That was actually a really freaking clever one,

had to think about it.

- zomg disguise theory is correct

- Wow, he is STILL going.

- inb4Klavierobjects

- Huh, I remember the first time I played TDG, there was a glitch where apparently the last two frames of the case (where Feykneme takes off his hood) played as the game over screen. That always confused the hell out of me.

- Anyway, finished! Only took me a year. And I only had to use the walkthrough once.

Spoiler : Overall :
Doing an overall review now is going to seem weird, because I already know that a lot of the things I complain about are going to be things you've already improved on. :P

First off, the crime was great, though figuring it out so early made the big reveals significantly less exciting obviously. (Though I suppose I did have an unfair advantage... but I still hold that I could have figured it out without knowing that. And of course, none of that is your fault XP) The only real complaint I have with it is that I had much less of a feel for the location than I did in your other cases. The whole thing about Hikimori seeing Jake go inside the house REALLY threw me off, and I feel like better clarification there would help. Speaking of, why did Jake wait outside the door for nearly half an hour just standing there? 0_o

And I've gotta say, even though I really don't like the "X person couldn't have known about Y evidence" type of contradictions, I thought Feykneme's first testimony worked it in quite well. Not well enough to where I would have ever been able to figure it out, but I just loved the entire structure of that testimony... but the two testimonies after? Ehhhh they just seemed pointless to me, really. The whole hypothetical thing is interesting, but when it gets to the point where he's talking about hiding in a closet that's not even there but that we can't prove (unless Klavier y'know showed a picture or something...), then it just comes across as rather dumb to me. I get needing to have a fleshed-out confrontation, but Feykneme has some truly cunning moments, and when he's resorting to dumb stuff like that it makes him seem dumb as a result. And he himself is supposed to be the tool, not the artist, so that makes sense to some degree, but... I don't know. It just felt like filler to me at times. XP

But everything after that was great. The Black Box Puzzle was definitely my favorite contradiction in the case. That was just brilliantly planned and the introduction of the evidence in the first place is a great moment for Feykneme.

Also, you've gotten better with this, so it's redundant to talk about it now, but DAYUM there were so many timers that were either too short or too long. XD

Another thing I'd like to say is that this is where your characterization started to improve. ToC is where it REALLY started to shine, but I thought all of your OCs were interesting and well-designed... but it did bother me that Jake completely disappeared during the trial.

Anyway, good stuff as always. Probably my least favorite of your works, but you could compare that to me naming my least favorite Pixar movie.
